The structure that houses the Cadillac Bar Restaurant was originally the old Stumberg General Store, which was built in the 1870s. It was a favorite meeting place for farmers and ranchers from across the territory. Behind the store was a camp yard for wagons and livestock. In 1914, streetlights were installed to illuminate this area. They were said to be the first electric streetlights in Texas. They are still in use today in what has become a beautiful brick courtyard behind the restaurant.
